So where does my passion for Astronomy come from……… a passion that has made me create a website and blog on all things to do with the sky and beyond. Honestly, as silly as this sounds, I have had this fascination since I was a little girl (around 10 years old in 1998) because that was when I watched the newly released movie “Deep Impact”. Now for those of you who have not had the pleasure of seeing this movie, it’s about some high school students who are in an astronomy class, and discover an asteroid that is categorised as an extinction level for life on earth and you guessed it, is heading straight for us. The best of the best specialised Astronauts are sent up to destroy it with nuclear weapons and of course, like any great movie plot, this does not go to plan. It’s now a race to save humanity, (I should mention this predates the movies that now see us leaving Earth and inhabiting a new planet). It also ignited my fascination with tidal waves (spoiler alert) but basically, this movie had a deep impact on me (pun intended).
I am fascinated with learning about all the possibilities and the feeling I get when I see Jupiter and its 4 largest moons (lo, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto) or Saturn and its main rings (A, B and C) through my telescope is, nothing but pure awe and something I will never get tired of witnessing.
So when I am passionate about something there is nothing I love more than to talk about said passion and create awareness so that’s the conception of this website and blog. To inform people that may not know a lot about astronomy in an easy to read format.
I hope you enjoy this website and blog as we navigate through the complexities of our mysterious universe together.

Awesome passion Natalie … its one of my favourite movies too!
You can see your passion throughout the website. It’s so informative and easy to comprehend..
Love this. I will have to check out “Deep Impact”.
Hopefully get some more Saturn content too – Titan is better than all of the Jupiter moons combined.
I joke, great job 🙂
I know whtat i’m watching this weekend. I love your passion and enthusiasm… and now your website designing skills too. Great job.

Terrific movie, didn’t know you were so into it!
Awesome to see such passion for your hobby Nat, and its great to see you presenting it in such clear and engaging ways.
Hi Natalie – thank you for your very interesting blog. I too love that movie and it was the Wolf-Beiderman comet. I also watched a comet breaking up into Jupiter’s atmosphere…
